Our Curriculum

Empowering Young Minds Through Language, Culture, and Creativity

At The Socratic School of Language, we believe that our curriculum and educators set us apart. We provide children with both a traditional and classical education focused on character development, real-world experiences, and positive relationships. Our diverse team of educators are native speakers of Mandarin and Spanish, bringing authenticity and high-quality cultural perspectives to our classrooms.

Our students benefit from learning in an environment that immerses them in their target language. While our educators teach primarily in Mandarin or Spanish, they are proficient in English to ensure effective communication with families and the broader school community.

Mathematics

We aim to demystify math for young learners through hands-on activities and illustrations that connect numerical concepts to everyday experiences. Whether counting, saving money, or exploring foreign currencies, children build confidence as they master the building blocks of mathematics.

Science, Exploration, and Geography

From Astronomy to Zoology, our young scientists engage in outdoor learning and hands-on exploration. These experiences foster curiosity and an appreciation for the world around them, with topics ranging from ecosystems to constellations.

Phonics and Language Arts

We prioritize bilingual literacy, helping children recognize letters, sounds, and words in Spanish or Mandarin. Group reading and interactive lessons motivate children to become enthusiastic readers, with many achieving early literacy milestones before kindergarten.

Handwriting

Fine motor skills development is key to early literacy. Our handwriting program includes practice with characters, letters, cursive, and calligraphy, encouraging creativity and precision.

Imaginative Play and Physical Education

Through imaginative play and exploration, children develop critical social and problem-solving skills. Outdoor activities, board games, and discovery tools foster collaboration and physical well-being.

Cultural Arts

We take a project-based approach to art, blending cultural traditions with hands-on creativity. Children explore drawing, music, and crafts, using both natural and man-made materials to express themselves.

Socratic Seminars

Our Kindergarten and 1st-grade students begin to participate in Socratic Seminars, engaging in open dialogue to practice diplomacy, critical thinking, and self-expression. These sessions help children build confidence and leadership skills in a supportive environment.

Core Knowledge Curriculum

Our use of the Core Knowledge Curriculum ensures a comprehensive, content-rich approach that builds critical thinking skills across a variety of subjects.
