A recent Washington Post<\/em> article revealed a growing crisis in our schools: international teachers who have spent years serving D.C. students are now being told that their path to permanent residency is closing.\u00a0 Many of these educators built their lives here.\u00a0 They bought homes, raised children, and believed that their commitment to teaching would lead to stability.<\/p>\r\n Now, instead of security, they face uncertainty about their jobs, their families, and their future in the United States.<\/p>\r\n As an educator and school leader, I find this heartbreaking.\u00a0 These teachers did exactly what we say we want.\u00a0 They filled critical roles, strengthened bilingual programs, and gave students access to world languages that expand hearts and minds.\u00a0 Yet their dedication is being met with bureaucracy and broken promises.<\/p>\r\n At The Socratic School of Language, we choose a different path.\u00a0 We recognize that our classrooms thrive because of these international educators.<\/p>\r\n Our teachers come from around the world \u2014 Colombia, China, Morocco, Mexico, and beyond.\u00a0 They bring authenticity to the languages we teach: Spanish, Mandarin, and Arabic.\u00a0 More importantly, they bring human connection.<\/p>\r\nThe Human Cost of Policy<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n
